Salvia Salmon Dance

‘Salmon Dance’ is an evergreen, shrubby salvia with a bushy habit and mid-green foliage. Its narrow flower spikes carry lipped blooms in coral pink, each one sitting in a purple-red calyx, and it keeps flowering from summer into autumn. Pollinators are frequent visitors.

It typically reaches 30–50cm, though given time it can grow to around a metre high and wide, so it suits borders, gravel beds, courtyards or pots on the patio. Plant it in sun or part shade in reasonably fertile soil that holds moisture yet drains well; once it has settled it needs less watering. It’s tough enough to get through cold winters in most of the UK, and snipping off faded spikes encourages more blooms.
