Abelia × grandiflora (Glossy Abelia) is a graceful semi-evergreen shrub with arching stems and small, glossy leaves. From midsummer well into autumn it’s covered in white trumpet flowers, and the salmon-pink sepals stay on after the petals drop, so the whole plant keeps a soft pink glow long after flowering.
It’s happiest in a sunny, sheltered spot with soil that drains well, and needs little more than a light tidy in spring.
